The 2025 MLB season has already been full of crazy moments, record-breaking performances, and some drama too — and we’re only through April!
One of the biggest moves this year was Juan Soto signing a massive 15-year, $765 million contract with the Mets. Everyone was hyped to see what he could do, and he’s been great so far. But even with Soto’s help, the Mets had a tough loss recently when they blew a six-run lead and lost to the Nationals after a mistake by Pete Alonso in the ninth inning. Ouch.
Here in Arizona, Eugenio Suárez had a night to remember. He smashed four home runs in one game against the Braves, something that’s only happened 18 other times in MLB history! It’s been a while since we’ve seen something that epic. The last time that we have seen this happened was back in 2017.
Meanwhile, Aaron Judge is doing Aaron Judge things for the Yankees. He set some crazy records already, like hitting six home runs and getting 17 RBIs in just the Yankees’ first seven games. He’s proving why he’s one of the best.
There are also some young guys making a big impact. Paul Skenes, a rookie pitcher for the Pirates, has been lights out, including a big game where he struck out six batters over seven innings. Even though he’s killing it, a lot of people think the Pirates aren’t using him as smartly as they should.
The Detroit Tigers are another team to keep an eye on. Riley Greene has bounced back from a slow start and has been making some awesome plays in left field. Their pitcher Tarik Skubal also had a huge game, throwing a shutout and striking out 11 guys.
But not everything has been positive. At a Red Sox game, outfielder Jarren Duran got heckled by a fan who brought up Duran’s past struggles with mental health. It got so bad the fan had to be kicked out, and it has started many conversations about how athletes deserve respect too, especially concerning personal stuff like mental health.
Not to mention how the Giants have been battling to even become first in their division. They have bounced back massively since last year and if they keep this up, they will have a great season and even have a chance to compete with the Dodgers at this level.
Overall, it’s been a super exciting first month of baseball. Between the veterans crushing it, rookies making noise, and some drama here and there, it’s looking like it’s going to be a really fun season.
