With the school year coming to an end, we have many seniors graduating, and today we are going to put the spotlight on one in particular: Genesis Rios. Genesis goes by Gen and is a great student, role model, and friend. She has attended Agua Fria for all four years of her high school career and has participated in many activities, such as her favorite one, girls’ basketball. Gen was a 4 year player of the Lady Owls basketball team, even being named one of the team captains this last season, where she helped lead her team to the playoffs for the first time in a while. As a matter of fact, Gen’s favorite memory out of all her high school years was accomplishing that feat of making the girl’s basketball Arizona state 4A playoffs.

Gen has a lot of goals she wants to accomplish in her future and wants to start that in her journey in college, where she will attend Phoenix College to study Radiology in hopes of becoming a sonographer as her professional career. Gen will leave a lasting effect on Agua Fria High School with all of her successes. Gen has been a great role model to other students with her small acts of kindness and her respectful way of life. Gen is a quiet but also very outgoing girl who can make conversation with pretty much anyone. She can light up any room and make anybody feel comfortable and happy, even if they are sad.
Gen is also very good in the classroom and is a very smart person. She focuses a lot and pays

close attention to her grades because she wants to be the best version of herself. If she had to choose a single favorite class in all four years of high school, it would be when she took AP Psychology junior year with Ms. Rams. Her favorite teacher, though, would have to be Ms. Snell, who teaches her AP Literature class. Gen loves school and socializing with all of her friends and the people she sees. She was asked if she could give any advice to incoming freshmen, and she said that they need to try new things and get out of their comfort zone and be themselves, and don’t let anyone stop them from doing what they want. As she closes out her last days in school, she sees it as bittersweet but can’t wait to see what she has in store for the future.
