As we all know we recently were in the World Series and we were all excited about this since it had been 22 years since we were in a World Series which happened to be the only one we have ever won. But besides the loss this year Arizona got a huge boost in tourist money and revenue. Although we weren’t expecting the D-backs to go into the World Series a lot of places were ready for mega events like this one since we get a couple each year. We don’t have that much information yet since it had just happened but here is what we can expect.
Josh Coddington with the Arizona Office of Tourism Cited numbers From Arizona State University researchers that show the Super Bowl in February ranked at $1.4 Billion. But later in the year, there was the Phoenix Open that brought in $227 million and the Fiesta Bowl at $170 million. All the games that are being played here at home have been entirely sold out with the cheapest ticket being $400 to $600. Chase Field is the 5th largest major league stadium in the U.S. and holds up to 48,000 fans. But even if you couldn’t buy a ticket you and your friends/family could’ve gone to any bar or restaurant in Arizona and watched the game.
Many bars and restaurants can expect many fans to flock in to watch the exciting games and they could also expect a lot of revenue. Plus many fans who come from all over the country might want to stay since Arizona currently is one of the fastest growing states in the country!
Danny Seiden president and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce stated “We’ll take the Dallas residents who want to come by and realize the better state than Texas – not just for sports but also for living”. Sports have a huge impact on the Arizona economy since the weather is usually perfect for the majority of sports. From soccer to Nascar Arizona is the hotspot for major sporting events in the United States.
But Even though the Dbacks had lost the World Series the rest of Arizona got a big W and enjoyed watching our team in one of the most exciting World Series to happen in a while.
I guess Arizona knows how to Embrace the Chaos!
