The senior being featured in this article is Nebula Duplessis. The most challenging part of their senior year was trying to balance relationships, color guard, and grades at the same time. The most fun thing about their year was participating in their first marching season with their best friends. Nebula was a part of the color guard/band and a part of the Choir Club as the social media manager. They said the best part of being a part of those activities was being around their friends and showing off their passion. Their favorite hobby is color guard. They’ve been doing color guard since they were in 7th grade and it’s become a real passion of theirs. Nebula is a bit nervous about leaving behind their underclassmen friends, but overall they are super excited about graduation. After graduation, Nebula wants to go to EMCC to study psychology. They plan to stay in Arizona until their friends graduate. Eventually, they want to travel the world. Nebula said they would change the amount of drama in their senior year. There was a lot of it this year and all they wanted was a calm senior year. Nebula said they are most appreciative of Ms. Fowler and Ms. Estes. Ms. Fowler was a super engaging teacher and always made Nebula want to learn more. She was an amazing teacher to have and to talk to after Nebula left her class. Nebula was also appreciative of Ms. Estes, the school’s student support. Nebula met Ms. Estes on the third day of school after having a breakdown.
Nebula has been close to Ms. Estes ever since. Even joining the choir club which is run by Ms. Estes. If Nebula was told that they weren’t graduating without providing 3 achievements these past 4 years, those achievements would be being the first one to get a color guard award for Agua Fria (their junior year), becoming more of an outgoing, social person (their senior year), and never giving up on color guard (their freshman year/the zoom year). The advice that Nebula would like to share is that you can’t worry about what other people think of you. It’s high school. After you graduate you may never see any of these people ever again. They would also like to say that you should live your life to the fullest. You’re only in high school so live in the moment.
