With graduation just around the corner, we would like to take the opportunity to thank seniors for their contributions to not only their school but their community as well. Derek Herseker is a hard-working, very intelligent, responsible, honest goal oriented student as his forensics teacher Ms. Torres likes to explain his best qualities.
Derek transferred here to Agua Fria from Mesquite High School in Gilbert, Arizona in the fall of his sophomore year and quickly became a successful student. Derek played baseball for the school and was extremely good at it after picking it up from so many years prior. Derek’s favorite memories of high school were playing baseball and enjoying the long trips on the bus including his most favorite bus trip on the way to Lake Havasu. Derek was an impactful person to many others. “He helped keep his peers on track” is what Ms. Torres had to say when asked about the impact he left.
Derek has many hobbies, one of them being playing baseball but he has also picked up a new one which is playing golf with his friends. Derek just enjoys time with his friends and hanging out with them whenever he can. His favorite food is Canes and eats it at any chance he gets. Derek is also a hard worker who likes to make money to spend.
Derek, looking back on his years in high school, is going to miss his favorite teachers Ms. Fowler, Ms. Torres, and Ms. German. He enjoyed being in their classes and seeing them every day. Derek’s two other favorite teachers were teaching his favorite class, weight training, and he enjoyed working out with them and hanging out with them throughout the day.
Derek is moving to California after he graduates and plans on working and going to college to study sports management and get a degree in it in hopes of starting a successful career. If Derek had to choose one job for his career he said he would go back to his roots and be a MLB manager for a professional team. Derek has a lot of hopes and dreams for his future and plans on accomplishing them. Derek had embodied what it means to be an Agua Fria Owl since the day he walked on campus and made the school and community around the school proud at all times. Good luck to Derek and his future!
