There are a lot of words that start with the letter K. There are Kind, Knowledgeable, and Known. These are some of the few words to describe Karyna. Karyna Garfias Carrasco has been an Agua Fria Owl for her full 4 years of high school. She has done multiple years of sports, specifically Indoor Volleyball and Beach Volleyball. Throughout her high school experience, Karyna has been involved with the school in a variety of ways, a majority of this has been through the Stuco program and Karyna has a twin!
When interviewing Karyna about her high school experience she said “ My high school experience was very adventurous. There were always so many school events or even friend gatherings that were always so chaotic. But that’s definitely what made it a really good high school experience.” Throughout high school, Karyna helped set up multiple football games, painted posters, placed decorations, and helped set up from being a Stuco member. Karyna has been a part of Stuco for 3 years, becoming student body vice president this year. Throughout the years there have been ups and downs. When asked what her best and worst memory of high school was she said “My favorite memory would be when me and Ali went out to get breakfast after senior sunset at Chick-fil-A and got matching cow hats so we decided to wear them all day.” “My worst memory was waking up one morning on a game day to my dog being attacked by 3 dogs and still having to go to school, just to later find out a few hours before the game that he had already passed. I still played, and gave it my all which was what truly mattered.”
Although there were some of the best and worst moments in her 4 years, Karyna still managed to pull through and get to the place she is today. Something Karyna is going to miss the most about her high school experience would be “ The Collins. They have been there for me for quite literally everything, and are always willing to hear you and your problems out.” Reminiscing throughout the years we have all made mistakes, but more importantly grew from them. Our Freshman year selves could always use some wisdom and Karyna would tell her younger self “ Stop trying to make everyone happy , and everyone to like you. At the end of the day, you should be focused on your goals and your top priorities. I would’ve also told my 9th grade self to live a little, and at least go to 3 parties before graduating.” Everyone could benefit from the wise words Karyna shared!
As our senior year comes to an end a new chapter begins. Karyna has set goals for what she wants to accomplish after high school. Karyna stated, “ My plan after high school is to join the military while also getting my bachelor’s in nursing to become a NICU travel nurse.” Karynas dream job is to eventually be a stay-at-home mom… but that is in the far future for her.
Karyna has left her impact here on this campus, in her classes, and in so many people’s hearts. Her kind heart and contagious smile will change and be with so many people. We wish you the best of luck Karyna as your journey has only begun and your impact waits!
