Gorgeous, charming, stylish, and sweet are only some of the many qualities this girl carries with her. Oh, right, let me introduce her….here comes Cheyenne Streiff! If you know Cheyenne, you love her! If you don’t know her… you’re going to now!

Not only does Cheyenne have an intuition, but she’s also full of kindness and understanding. This an unimaginable understanding of human brain psychology, with fascination. Academically, Cheyenne has always been an incredibly focused person, and when she talks about school in America vs her school year in Switzerland, they’re very different. Coming to lighten up Agua Fria High School all the way from Switzerland, Cheyenne is an exchange student who has traveled many places in her journey, coming to Agua Fria High School.

As we talk about how awesome Cheyenne is, we should recognize that not only do I think of her like this, but so does everyone else, and that is a beautiful thing! Cheyenne speaks about things with a deeper meaning. She wears jewelry dedicated to family members to always be close to them and has a positive mindset in which she says, “I don’t think anyone deserves to be hated.” Her “American Friends,” as she calls them, are the ones who made her feel joyful to come to school every day, especially the girls’ tennis team! Agua Fria’s girls’ tennis team has had the amazing pleasure to play with Cheyenne; they have truly shown her the school spirit that you see in the movies and that you dream of for your year, but enough before we get emotional about Cheyenne leaving. An interesting fact about Cheyenne’s Swiss background is surrounded by academic differences. Cheyenne says that “ I also realized how much easier school in America is and that I wish I didn’t have to go back to my Swiss school lol.” In Switzerland, things are done differently. She says that “ being away from everyone in Switzerland for such a long time, made me realise even more how thankful I am for my support system there!”

Everyone I have ever talked to who has had the pleasure to know Cheyenne has only said positive things about her, and although academically and emotionally, she might have her weaknesses, that is her gift, and it is a great gift. After speaking to many of her teachers, I have had the pleasure to speak to not only her tennis coach, Ms. Doran, but also her history teacher, Mr. Collins, one of our history teachers here at AFHS, often jokes about Cheyennes background leading to her neutrality in picking sides for argumentative activities, this would be considered one of her weakness Mr. collins says. Aside from Switzerland being famously neutral in history…Cheyenne is a joy to have around. In 8.5 years of teaching at Agua Fria highschool, Mr. Collins has never taught an exchange student and says “Seriously, she has been wonderful and I truly doubt I will get to have an exchange student as great as she has been” (dont worry Cheyenne, we promise that you are truly Mr. Collins favorrite!) as he also goes on to say… “When she goes back to that country of persistent neutrality and slightly stinky cheese (in a good way), she will sorely be missed on campus, by both her teachers and peers.” You can tell that Cheyenne is a joy to have around; her background impacts her personality, and she has a truly outstanding one.
Even when speaking to her tennis teammates, Ella Hovland and Aseelah Salahuddin, they all have wonderful things to say. Ella goes above and beyond to describe Cheyenne and says “she has a heart of gold”, and states that it is truly impossible NOT to love Cheyenne! One of our tennis captains, Aseelah, describes her as someone who will do everything possible to understand you and help you. “At practice, she was always willing to give up her water whenever I, or others, had run out.” Now that’s a teammate! “As Cheyenne is closing out her year abroad, I hope she starts to see the opposite–how harnessing her powerful emotions can become her superpower,” Coach Doran says. Cheyenne’s deep emotions are a gift to everyone around her, and she has the amazing ability to use them for others.
Cheyenne Streiff has made a significant change in many people’s lives, one of them being mine, and I promise that when you need her, she is there. Cheyenne and I have connected mostly through our understanding of the different outcomes of life. So, as Cheyenne says, “Not everything will be perfect and great”, but everything is important for your growth.
