The series American horror story is well known, for its twist and turns and constant jumpscares, some of their seasons/episodes are based on true events and cast real people such as Jeffrey Dahmer, Richard Ramirez, The Zodiac Killer, and features the Black Dahlia case and more. Although they have many seasons, based on personal opinions the best seasons are Murder House, Coven, Hotel, and Apocalypse. 

Starting off with murder house, first aired on October 11th, 2011, and stars actors like Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga, and Jessica Lange. Murder house focuses on the Harmon family, Dr. Ben Harmon, Vivien, and their teenage daughter Violet. They moved from Boston to LA after Vivien had a miscarriage, she, later on, discovered that Ben was having an affair with his student. They find a beautiful house on the market, almost like a mansion for a cheap price, much cheaper than any of the other houses in the neighborhood. They find out previous tenants have died in the house, hence why it’s so cheap. Unaware of what they are in store for they take the house only to, later on, discover that the apparitions of the previous residents haunt the building, along with murderers and their victims.

Moving onto the 3rd season of American Horror Story, coven.  Coven first premiered on October 9th, 2013, and is mainly centered around witches/witchcraft. This season starts off by following a story about a 17-year-old girl whose life completely changes when she discovers she’s a descendant of Salem. Zoe gets sent to a coven of other witches like her but they are little in number, their kind were either dead, or most were not even aware of what they truly are. Zoe and her fellow witches learn to nurture and tame their many talents from their teacher Cordelia as they fight for their survival. This season also features and accurately depicts the terrible acts of serial killer Delphine LaLaurie who is known for torturing and murdering slaves in her home.

Additionally, the 5th season, premiering on October 7th, 2015 is Hotel. This season stars Lady Gaga herself as the countess and returning actors like Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson. This season is mainly centered around a series of disturbing murders, a homicide detective John Lowe who is leading this case gets a mysterious call one day from work. This anonymous person tells Lowe that he is the one who committed the atrocious murders and he will do it again, to find him at the Hotel Cortez room 64. This leads Lowe to check in to the Hotel Cortez where he finds nothing, nor does he find the person who claimed to be there. Over time this case drives him mad, more killings keep happening and he can’t figure out who the murderer is. Only to later discover something quite terrifying something he could not grasp or understand at all.

Lastly, a season that ties murder house, coven, and hotel, apocalypse.  This season premiered on September 12th, 2018. Apocalypse is set in the near future and starts out with nuclear missiles destroying the world, this ends up starting a nuclear winter. This obviously results in thousands of deaths, or mutated people. A group called the cooperative selects intelligent people to keep safe from the apocalypse based on their genetics. These people along with rich people were able to buy their way into this underground base called the outpost and were safe from the toxic air. But living in the outpost means there are strict rules and even worse punishments. Time passes, food shortens, and everyone is of course bored and unsteady. But things change once a man who claims to be from the cooperative arrives, Micheal Langdon. Langdon says that he will be the one who decides who is truly worthy of saving. He talks to everybody 1 on 1 to get to judge them better, this time around it was a young woman named Mallory’s turn, she tagged along with one of the wealthy people. Langdon ends up revealing his true form to Mallory and she makes fire shoot from the fireplace, this scares Langdon because he had thought all witches were gone. It is later on revealed that 1 of the members of the cooperative wasn’t selected, Venable. Ms. Mead, another member of the cooperative, suggests that they just kill them all. They poison apples and suggest a party, part of this party would be eating the apples as a toast. This ends up killing them all besides Langdon, Ms. Mead, and Venable. After this Coordelia, Madison, and Myrtle show up at the outpost to revive their fellow witches, then they make the decision to get rid of Micheal Langdon no matter what, claiming he is the son of Satan himself, birthed from human and spirit (murder house).
