Meet Math Teacher Ms. De Palo

By Alan Agundez Castillo    ( Find me on twitter @OwlFeedAlan)

Not everyone likes math, but we all have to learn it at some point in our lives. The school has many wonderful teachers that teach this area of learning and one of them is Ms. Samantha De Palo.

Ms. De Palo is a geometry and Algebra teacher here at Agua Fria. She has been teaching here for two years. She is a wonderful teacher that knows her students and can connect with them easily.

“Part of the reason why I wanted to become a math teacher was to get more young women interested in math and science,” she said. “Statistics show that only about 10% – 20% of STEM professionals are women. I want to change that.”

Ms. De Palo is a hard working teacher that wants to make a difference in her students’ lives and in the school. She wants her students to believe that they are good at math and that it is fun.  What makes her job worthwhile is when she sees a hardworking student putting their all, even if they don’t understand the material.

When asked about what it means to #BeAnOwl, she said that it means to be hardworking and school spirited. “I think to #BeAnOwl is to never give up on yourself, to always keep learning and trying no matter what,” she said “Owls are resilient! Owls persevere!”
