Alright, forget everything you know, ok? Imagine this, a person who is rad standing in a dark room with a single spotlight aimed at them. If you don’t know who I am talking about already then you’re missing out. The person that I am not exaggerating is lovable and just a great human being in general. You know her, you love her: Jazzlyn Romero!
I was recently allowed to write about any of our seniors who are sadly leaving us. When I heard that I instantly knew that I wanted to write about Jazz. So I have some questions that I wanted to ask her about her life, her time here at Agua Fria, and her plans for the future. The first question that I asked her was how it felt to graduate. Her response “It’s so surreal because there’s so many relationships built here, and the fact that I have to go to college and have to settle again and have to get to know more people. It’s very unknown you know and just gotta trust the Lord but I’m sad that it’s coming to an end, but I’m happy what awaits you know what I’m saying?”. The second question that I asked her was How are you gonna feel when you get handed that diploma? ” Her response was, “When I get handed that diploma I’m gonna be very excited because it’s nice to know all the hard work that I put into this school. And my work is finally being rewarded and I’m officially setting out into the world as a citizen of America” The third question I asked her was Name one artist that defines each year of high school for you. Her answer was, “Kali reminds me of my freshman year. Anything Kali Uchis especially her Isolation album reminds me of freshman year. The Weeknd is definitely in junior year. I just listened to him a lot that year, but for my sophomore year I would have to say Steve Lacy and for my senior year I would have to say Metallica”. To be honest, if you’re asking me, those are some great music choices if I’m being honest.
For the fourth question I asked, who was the teacher who impacted your life the most? Her answer was, “ It’s either Mrs Carrera or Mrs.Moritz, Carrera because she reminds me of my Nana and I love my Nana. And she would always push me to speak Spanish, like I know Spanish but I didn’t speak it. Which was scary but I’m so happy that she pushed us out of our shells and made us do that. And then Mrs. Mortiz because she’s just a lovable human being and she encourages us to do our best and she’s so community oriented which just inspires me to do things for the benefit of others” For our fifth quest I asked her what was her favorite extracurricular activity was and she said, “Cross country and track and field, I just loved everybody on those teams and just had an amazing time doing it” I also asked her if she regretted not doing things and her response was, “ yeah I wish I took more AP classes and joined more clubs earlier on and just get more involved with the community” And one of my most favorite questions that I asked her in the interview was, What do you think you would get voted “most likely as”?, her answer is “I would probably get most likely to be president or most likely to flex”. And now for the final
question that I was able to ask Jazzlyn Romero was what was your favorite year? And her answer is “Junior year for sure. I mean that’s the year that I really got involved with the school and I just felt like I belonged and it was just really great and a lot of fun”.
I had so much fun writing this and asking Jazzlyn all of these questions. I’m just really proud of her and the
work all the things that she has done for Agua Fria. I think she is a perfect example of an Agua Fria Owl and I just know that she is going to have a wonderful future and I’m just really happy for her. And for the rest of the class of 2024 just know that these times are when you become legendary!
