Who is John Kasich? John Kasich is the only presidential candidate that has almost kept silent throughout the whole race. Not everyone knows who he is and now it is time to let him shine.

Out of all the Republican candidates, he is the most reasonable. Now, some of you might want to know why this random person that you probably don’t know is still running and might have a small chance of becoming the nominee for the Republicans in the general election in the first place. Here is why, and I have to say, it is pretty smart.

As we all know, a majority of people in the United States don’t want Donald Trump to become the nominee and have a chance at becoming the president. However, before he could do that, he has to reach a magic number of delegates, which is 1,237. (Delegates are what candidates earn after winning a state primary or caucus).

Now, you might think that number is not important, but for this race, it is the most important thing in the world. If Donald Trump reaches this magic number, he will automatically become the nominee, but if Kasich is still in the race and he earns some of the delegates, there is a chance that Trump will not be the man.

If Kasich still stays in the race, and nobody reaches the magic number, there will be something called a brokered convention, where they will do the whole primary process in 2 weeks and the whole Republican party will agree on a presidential nominee and vice presidential candidate that might win the general election.  

That is why Kasich is still in the race. If he stays in the race and a brokered convention happens, their is a huge possibility that Donald Trump will not become the nominee.

Now to some background info of John Kasich. He is the governor of Ohio since 2011 and is still is to this day. He has had experience in politics so he has experience in running some form of society. Also, he announced his campaign on July 21, 2015, very early in the race.
