Agua Fria’s MARVELous Homecoming!

By: Sarah Niezgodzki
Owlfeed Journalist

Homecoming, one of the most infamous weeks for high school students all around the country, is almost upon us owls. Student Council has decided that this year we will be having a MARVELous homecoming on the week of October 15th-20th. The week is jam-packed with awesome spirit days and fun after school and lunchtime events.

We’ll kick the week off on Monday with Captain America day, where students will dress head to toe in Red, White, and Blue. After school, there will be a Chipotle fundraiser from 4-8pm on Litchfield and McDowell. You can also join your friends for a movie night in the courtyard where we will be watching, ironically, Spider-Man: Homecoming. On Tuesday, our spidey senses will kick in with our Spider-Man Day, where you’ll see groups of athletes and groups of mathletes all around campus. Girls volleyball will have their senior night in the evening at 6 pm against Millennium High School.

To continue the week, on Wednesday, students will dress all out in 80s workout gear for Guardians of the Galaxy day. In the evening, there will be a special Improv show in the Blackbox, doors will open at 6pm and the show will start at 6:30, make sure to be there for a special surprise. Then, on Thursday, grab a few friends and dress as your favorite squad for X-Men day. We will end the night with our Bonfire on the softball practice field.

We will end the week with AFHS Assemble (a play on the words ‘Avengers Assemble!’), with an all out red out where there will be a sea of red all throughout school. We will end the school day with our homecoming Pep Rally.

After school on Friday, there will be the tailgate starting at 3:30-6:30 on the band practice field, which will be filled with a ton of fun things to do. After the tailgate, you can head on over to the varsity football game starting at 7pm against Independence High School.

Saturday is the night everyone is looking forward to, but first you can start your morning by going to the Applebee’s fundraiser from 8-10am on Litchfield and McDowell. After that, everyone will be getting ready for a Marvelous New York New York themed dance which starts at 7pm and ends at 10pm. Tickets will be sold for $15 Oct. 2nd-19th and for $25 at the door of the dance.

Another important aspect of Homecoming, is of course, Homecoming royalty. Our Freshman, Lord nominees are Angel Oliva, Abraham Villanueva, Brian Diaz, and Matthew Manila. Freshman, Lady nominees are Stephanie Carrasco, Jerzi Alvarado, Dayanara Galvez, and Gabrielle Ovales.

Last, but definitely not least, your Senior nominees for King are Jeremy Peterson, Tyler Eich, Eriyon Ward, and Anthony Morfin. Your nominees for Queen are Karina Montes De Oca, Lilly Ruiz, Rachel Johnson, and Hannah Whitely. Voting will be going on at A&B lunches during the week.
