Meet our new Math Teacher Ms. Olivas!

By Tess Morrow – OwlFeed

Agua Fria has an outstanding teaching staff that does a stupendous job at ensuring every student’s success all four years of High School.

One of our new teachers on campus, which I am sure shares that same drive to have all of her students succeed with flying colors,  is Ms. Olivas! She teaches Honors Algebra 1 which most freshman take, and Trigonometry which most juniors and seniors take. She is an ASU Sun Devil graduate, and was part of Teach for America! She is also from Chandler, Arizona.

“I studied math in college. I love math!”. She aspired to become a teacher because she tutored people in college and she enjoys helping people understand the complexities of math.

One piece of advice that she would say to someone coming into her class is, “Be comfortable with the uncomfortable”.  This is definitely some valuable advice for any class you take at Agua Fria.

Even though this is her first year at Agua Fria, she already loves it here! “I love all of the kids. I enjoy the culture. I feel really fortunate to be here.”

Ms. Olivas is also going to be an assistant coach for softball this spring! So all softball players should give her a warm welcome to our Owl family!

Ms. Olivas is going to be a very great addition to our teacher staff at Agua Fria for the 2015-2016 school year!
