Gary Francis Poste. Do you know this name? If you said no, don’t worry, I didn’t know who it was at first either. But if you did know this name you must have heard the disappointing news of who this man is.

In October, the Case Breakers, a team of more than 40 former law enforcement investigators, journalists, and military intelligence officers identified Gary Francis Poste as the infamous Zodiac Killer. Poste died in 2018.

According to the editors from biography.com, the Zodiac Killer was “directly linked to at least five murders in Northern California in 1968 and 1969 and may have been responsible for more. He taunted police and made threats through letters sent to area newspapers from 1969 to 1974, before abruptly ceasing communication.”

Over the years people have made various theories of who the Zodiac Killer was, only for it to result in a man named Gary who had passed away three years ago. Of course, this isn’t as exciting as the theories so many true crime podcasts have talked about. But I will say it is a win considering this man is no longer alive and can no longer terrorize people.

Anyways, how did this news come to be? Well over the years information about this man has been dropped from people who were close to him. A former neighbor of Poste is now convinced that he was the serial killer considering how he saw that he was controlling and abusive towards his wife.

Poste’s past neighbor told The Case Breakers, “As I’m an adult thinking back, it all kind of makes sense now. At the time when I was a teenager, I didn’t put two and two together until I got older. It hit me full-blown that Gary’s the Zodiac.” One witness even said they saw Poste burying weapons in the woods.

Aside from there being suspicions from witnesses, there are also interesting physical attributes between a police drawing of the Zodiac Killer and a picture of Poste. In the images, both men not only look very similar but also have the same forehead scars. It was also claimed that they have the same shoe size.

The more you get into details, the more it’s very convincing that Poste is the serial killer. The Case Breakers managed to figure out that only five of the murder victims — David Arthur Faraday and Betty Lou Jensen, Cecelia Ann Shepard, Paul Lee Stine, and Darlene Elizabeth Ferrin — were actually killed by Poste due to the matching of his DNA. This could mean that the other kills could have been someone else posing as the Zodiac Killer. Or Poste just managed to easily get away with them.

Finally, another clue that gave away that Poste is the Zodiac Killer is some of the various clues that were dropped at crime scenes. The Zodiac Killer was very famous for dropping notes at crime scenes which have taken crime investigators years to figure out until now.

“So you’ve got to know Gary’s full name in order to decipher these anagrams,” Jen Bucholtz, a former Army counterintelligence agent who works on cold cases, told FoxNews. “I just don’t think there’s any other way anybody would have figured it out.”

Well, it is great news that The Zodiac Killer is no longer alive to terrorize the public, but it’s also pretty sad that he never got punished for what he had done to the victims. It’s also sad that everybody’s theories about Ted Cruz are also wrong.
