“I’m not conceited, I am just a Leo.” 

“Sorry I was so mean to you, it’s just that Mercury is in retrograde.” 

I am so sick of people using astrology as an excuse for everything they do. At some point, we are all going to have to take real responsibility for the things we do and say.

Astrology is a thing made to try and help people come up with a reason why things exist, why something is or isn’t. Astrology is “the study of the movements and relative positions of celestial bodies interpreted as having an influence on human affairs and the natural world.” 

We all know the 12 zodiac signs: Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. They are separately known for certain things. 

Aries are well known to be spontaneous and courageous. Taurus is known for being stubborn and hard working. Gemini, considered the two-faced sign, are known for their inventive ideas and enthusiasm. Cancer is seen as the nice, caring crybaby. Leo is best known for their confidence and is sometimes seen as conceited. 

Virgo is looked at as strong and loyal. Libra, giving and well-balanced. Scorpio, ruthless and sercetitive. Sagittarius, having a sharp mind, especially with emotions. Capricorn are well known for the hustle, but also their boldness in words. Aquarius is exceptional and optimistic. Pisces is emotionally sensitive and emotionally aware.

“When people ask me what my star sign is I’m hesitant because I’ve met people who have immediately judged me based on the fact that I’m an Aquarius,” said Ashley Masingale, Photography Editor on The Howler. “They tell me that ‘we’ll get along great,’ or that they ‘don’t have many Aquarius friends.’ It irks me when this happens because it has no scientific backing. Given the fact that astrology is a pseudoscience, there’s no reason to judge me by my astrological sign.” 

It is literally one of the most annoying things to hear someone say that their actions or personally has anything to do with the fact of their zodiac sign. There are roughly 7.6 billion people on the planet. Each individual person is unique to their own person, and there are 12 (maybe 13) zodiac signs. 

And it is not like we are going to go out and say that all of them act the same or are exactly the same because they just happen to be born within the same month. No, we are not because it would sound absolutely ridiculous
