Think about some of your favorite characters not owned by Disney. Superman, Finn from Adventure Time, and Iron Giant. Have you ever wanted to play as them in a game, or more specifically, a fighting game? Well, Multiversus lets you do just that.

Multiversus is a game made and owned by Warner Brothers and is an amazing fighting game, similar to the famous Super Smash Bros. You have a variety of characters to choose from. These characters range from; Rick from Rick and Morty, to Steven from Steven Universe, as well as Tom & Jerry, and even Gizmo from Gremlins.

Gameplay-wise, multiversus is very much like Super Smash Bros. All characters have 4 neutral attacks and four special attacks, some of which have air varieties. Every character has different neutral and special attacks that reference the media that they come from and the character itself. For example, Morty’s (Rick and Morty) down special is Temporal Backup, which once activated, will create a save spot on the map that after a certain amount of time he will teleport back to. This is a direct reference to season four, episode eight of Rick and Morty, “The Vat of Acid Episode”, where Morty had that same temporal backup device.

It’s not just the attacks that have references in them though, there are also many references in the character’s voice lines, taunts, winning and losing animations, and costumes. For example, one of Shaggy’s (Scooby-Doo) voice lines while paired against Batman is saying how they used to work together referencing some of the crossover episodes the two characters have had. Also, one of Steven’s (Steven Universe) is the beach Steven costume, the appearance of Steven in one of the Steven Universe episodes.

You can tell the developers of this game put a lot of heart and soul into this game. So, if this game sounds interesting to you but you fear you won’t be able to get it don’t worry, Multiversus is a free game on PC, Xbox consoles, and Playstation consoles, so you can play this incredible game even if you don’t have any money to buy it. Personally, I have some fond experiences with this game, playing and arguing with my friends, or just on my own, but either way, it is extremely fun with the characters it has now and with more coming in the future. So, if you’ve ever wanted to see Superman VS. Batman, with Tom & Jerry and Iron Giant thrown into the mix, this is definitely the game for you.
