The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors put on an amazing classic in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA finals. There was a large number of people that were viewing it in real time as well. This game kept viewers entertained until the final buzzer. ESPN announced that Game 7 drew an 18.9 overnight rating, which is the highest rated NBA telecast ever on ABC. The previous highest game 7 battle was between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers in 2010, which ended up drawing an 18.2 overnight rating. ESPN also announced that the game averaged 598,000 viewers on its streaming platform, “WatchESPN”. That’s the highest average viewership for an event that was not related to the World Cup.

Spurred on by the series MVP, LeBron James, the Cavaliers won against the Warriors, 93 to 89, in Oracle Arena. James became just the third player in league history to record a triple double with a total of 27 points, 11 assists, and 11 rebounds in Game 7 of the NBA finals, joining Elgin Baylor and Jerry West. The Cleveland Cavaliers also became the first team in Finals history and 11th in NBA history to recover from a 3 to 1 deficit to win a best of seven series. With Lebron Jame’s quest to bring Cleveland its first major championship since 1964, the Warriors attempted to complete a historically great season and a number of fascinating storylines for the people. The recipe was nearly perfect for Game 7 of the Cavaliers vs. the Warriors to be a record setting broadcast said by reporters. Even though the Warriors came out with a loss in the finals, they still had a great game.

Lebron James almost single handedly carried the Cavaliers back into the series as they recaptured their first championship in history. With both teams giving it their all to try and win and break the internet with their amazing talent, it was an overall great game to behold. This was one game many did not want to miss, especially since the game featured Lebron James, Steph Curry, and Kyrie Irving. Lebron James and his no-man-left-behind Cleveland Cavaliers pulled off an impressive NBA finals comeback against the Golden State Warriors. The Cleveland Cavaliers are title town again, at last. “Few things are more satisfying than stealing the ball and getting a fast break,” Lebron James said after the game. “Well, I mean, we had many chapters. We had many chapters in the season. I don’t know. I mean, for me, it’s never a success if you go out losing. But I think we put ourselves back where this franchise needs to be, being a contender. But we’ve still got a lot of work to do.” When asked how LeBron would characterize the season overall for the whole organization, he said, “Well, I mean, we had many chapters. We had many chapters in the season. I don’t know. I mean, for me, it’s never a success if you go out losing. But I think we put ourselves back where this franchise needs to be, being a contender. But we’ve still got a lot of work to do.”
