The Best Ways to Manage Your Time

The Best Ways to Manage Your Time

Carlos Johnson, OwlFeed Media Editor

There are many people who have a hard time managing their time. We all have those moments where we don’t feel like getting work done. The worst thing you can do is put all of your stuff off until the very last minute.

There are many ways you can manage your time and use your time more efficiently. For some it comes easy.

Let’s take my brother Carter. Though he is only 17-years-old, he has accomplished a lot more than me: He already has his Associate’s Degree and volunteers at multiple animal shelters. On top of that, he also has a full-time job at Baskin Robbins.

His advice is quite questionable, but works really well for him.

“I don’t manage my time,” he said. “I just do it when I feel like it. I tell myself it’s due a day or two before it is actually due. That really motivates me. That is literally all I do, and I turned out just fine.”

Personally, I believe you should always have some sort of to-do list. If you leave your memory in charge of what to do, you will quickly forget some of the things you need to do. Write or type what you need to do, and you won’t forget anything.

I need to put all of my obligations in one place where I can physically see them. At times, I may have dozens of tabs open on my Chromebook. As I finish each thing I need to finish, I simply delete each tab. Seeing your tab count go down is so satisfying.

I can’t use my time wisely if my phone is around me. There are so many apps on my phone that are so distracting to me, texts that people send to me and breaking news I receive about sports.

Dallin Eich is a senior here at Agua Fria. He is quite busy. He is taking multiple AP classes, has a job and reserves time with his family.

An app on Dallin’s phone helps him with time management. He has the “Forest” app. By not using your phone while you are working, you can earn in-app credit within this app. When you gain credits, you are able to plant trees, and eventually, you can create a forest on your phone.

The “Forest” app is available on iOS and Android for $1.99.

For starters, you should always have some sort of to-do list. If you leave your memory in charge of what to do, you will quickly forget some of the things you need to do. Write or type what you need to do, and you won’t forget anything.

If you are struggling and do a good job procrastinating, you should take this advice, and you will quickly be able to manage your time like a pro!
